Warmer weather is on the way and that means thinking about making some updates to your home. One of the things you've noticed over the winter is that the draft around a few of the windows was worse this year. Since drafts in winter will mean hot air entering through those same spots in the summer, spring is the ideal time to think about different window replacement ideas. Here are three that you want to keep in mind as you make those plans.
The wood windows in your home came with the house and are certainly showing signs of wear. You suspect that a contractor will tell you that making repairs to those older windows would do little more than empty your wallet. A better approach would be to invest in new windows made from a different material.
One option you want to consider closely is vinyl windows. Vinyl is sturdy and will never need painting. You can expect the color to resist fading for a long time. There is no danger of warping, and you can forget about changes in the temperature causing the material to expand or contract a lot. Once the windows are in place, those drafts will be a thing of the past and you'll notice that your heating and cooling costs are much lower.
Since you are thinking about a full windows replacement anyway, why not talk with a contractor about going with a different style? Perhaps you would like to have windows designed to allow both sashes to move up and down. Maybe you want to get away from single pane sashes and go with double panes. If you have roll-out windows and would rather have a more traditional look, that can be arranged also.
Take the time to look at different window designs and get an idea of what would work best with the style of the home. You may find that this one change will do a lot for the curb appeal of the house. Assuming you choose something that's easier to operate, you also have the benefit of not having to tussle every time you want to open a window and let in a bit of fresh air.
All the changes are not about the window design or the materials used. There's also the matter of determining if those new windows in Burlington should sport frosted or tinted panes instead of clear ones. Both of these options do provide more in the way of privacy, especially during the day. Keep in mind that you could go with a frosted glass in the bottom sash and outfit the top sash with clear glass. If you go with tinting, make sure the method used allows you to see out with ease but prevents anyone from being able to peer into the home.
These three ideas are only the beginning. Talk with a professional and explore a few more approaches. It won't take long to find the right combination, order the windows and set a date for the new installation.
We just wanted to write to say thanks because the window quality is great and your helpful craftsman and professional installers made the entire experience wonderful. We only wish we could have this experience with all of our renovation projects.
We recently moved to our new house and needed to do some repairs and renovations. Your company was recommended by our very pleased friends. The windows look amazing and the installation job Richard did was first class.
It’s not everyday that I take the time to email a contractor… but my wife insisted! You guys did a great job and you kept it quick and quiet. We’ve got a newborn who sleeps often and your man did a good job not waking her up. Cheers.
We had done our share of research before finally deciding to go with your company and we must say that EuroSeal really had the greatest value. Guess we can chalk it up to working with a manufacturer.
It is our pleasure to say thanks for a great job done by your company. Luke and his colleague did a lovely job and they were very well mannered. It was a pleasure having them around.
We especially appreciated the help of your craftsman in choosing the appropriate style and colour for our first home. In the end, the windows look beautiful and I’m extremely happy with how easy they are to clean.
We damaged one of the external hinges a month ago, and your company’s prompt and efficient handling of the service call was impressive! We appreciate how quickly your company sent over a representative to fix the problem.
