While you may not realize it, many of your home's structural elements provide quite a few clues about the people living in the house. Little things like the interior and exterior doors can tell others something about you and your family in some surprising ways. In fact, someone who is particularly sensitive to subtle aspects of your home may know more about you based on the doors in your home than you realize. Here are four examples of what those doors are letting other people know.
You Love to Have People Over
One of the things that your choice of exterior doors can tell others is how open you are to having company drop by. Did you know that people who tend to be particularly social are more likely to have some type of glass included in the front door? That glass in the front door is not just about allowing you to glance out and see who rang the doorbell or to let additional light into the hallway. When you choose to install an entry door that includes some type of glass window in the top half, you are basically inviting others to be a part of your world before they get in the house.
Even the amount of glass you have in the door design can tell something about how welcoming you happen to be. For example, you may go with a door design that has a narrow strip window at just the perfect height to look out. In that scenario, the window is primarily for you to look out and see who has come to visit. Even so, it does provide the person on the outside a chance to see that you are coming down the hall and making your way to the front door.
Other people prefer front doors with glass that composes a significant amount of the design. When that glass is clear, you are definitely someone who is open and loves the idea of company. Even before you open the door and let the person in, they have the opportunity to look into your home and begin to feel comfortable there.
If you have neighbors who normally come to the back door, the style also provides clues about how open you are to receiving guests. Split doors that allow you to keep the top open while the bottom is locked is one way to say people are welcome. Glass panes that look a lot like typical window panes also send the message that a knock is likely to result in an invitation to come on in and be comfortable.
Your Taste in Colors
Doors colors are one of the ways that you put your own brand or personal touch on the home. It's not unusual for home buyers to begin making some changes soon after moving in. One of the more common changes has to do with the front and back doors.
You Take Security Seriously
As often as doors tell something about your personal tastes and how welcoming you are to callers, it can also provide a clue about how seriously you take home security. In this scenario, the fact that you choose to replace the older exterior doors with designs that are built to hold up to a lot of abuse indicates that you want to keep family and yourself safe at all times. When you opt for a metal door that is covered with some type of wood veneer, you are effectively choosing to incorporate another element that works well with the home security system. Simply put, if a burglar tries to break through the door, the going will be tough. A persistent burglar who tries anyway may find that the authorities arrive long before the lock finally gives way.
If you happen to like the door design, there will be no need to replace the door at all. Instead, you will likely opt for having it stripped and either stained or painted to better reflect your personal tastes.
While you are likely to take some cues from the home exterior when choosing the door color, it's still nice when you can go with something that happens to be among your favorite colors. For example, you may find that a dark green door works very well with the colors already used on the exterior. Since green happens to be your favorite color, why not use it?
Security does not just have to do with the exterior doors. That's why you've chosen to not go with the hollow doors for bedrooms and other areas of the house. Instead, you decided to engage in a complete interior door installation project that ensures solid doors and high-quality locks were used for each of the bedrooms. The idea is that if someone does break into the home, you have the opportunity to get to a bedroom, lock the door, and call the authorities from a safe space.
We just wanted to write to say thanks because the window quality is great and your helpful craftsman and professional installers made the entire experience wonderful. We only wish we could have this experience with all of our renovation projects.
We recently moved to our new house and needed to do some repairs and renovations. Your company was recommended by our very pleased friends. The windows look amazing and the installation job Richard did was first class.
It’s not everyday that I take the time to email a contractor… but my wife insisted! You guys did a great job and you kept it quick and quiet. We’ve got a newborn who sleeps often and your man did a good job not waking her up. Cheers.
We had done our share of research before finally deciding to go with your company and we must say that EuroSeal really had the greatest value. Guess we can chalk it up to working with a manufacturer.
It is our pleasure to say thanks for a great job done by your company. Luke and his colleague did a lovely job and they were very well mannered. It was a pleasure having them around.
We especially appreciated the help of your craftsman in choosing the appropriate style and colour for our first home. In the end, the windows look beautiful and I’m extremely happy with how easy they are to clean.
We damaged one of the external hinges a month ago, and your company’s prompt and efficient handling of the service call was impressive! We appreciate how quickly your company sent over a representative to fix the problem.
